Green Bean - Arabica - Papua Wamena - SemiWashed - Gr.1 Triple Pick
PAPUA WAMENA COFFEE — INDONESIA
Coffee arrived in the Baliem Valley through missionaries around the 1950s and 1960s, much later than in Java and Sumatra. The farms sit at high elevations, surrounded by the Jayawijaya Mountains, and much of the post-harvest work is still done by hand. The biggest cost of Papua coffee lies in getting it out of the valley, not in growing it. That is why it has always felt expensive relative to its volume.
This lot is wet-hulled, Grade 1 Triple Pick, with three stages of physical sorting. Its character is sweet and rounded, with chocolate notes. It is less outspoken than Aceh coffee, making it easy to pair in blends or enjoy as a standalone coffee. For cafés looking for an origin their neighboring competitors don't offer, Papua fills that gap.

TRIPLE PICK QUALITY ASSURANCE
Why Is Our Green Coffee More Honestly Graded?
Most marketplace sellers claim Grade 1 quality based on just one rough machine-sorting pass. At Coffest Roastery, we apply three stages of physical sorting:
1. Suton Machine: Removes foreign materials such as stones, twigs, dust, broken beans, and residual silver skin that make it through the earlier processing stages.
2. Optical Sorting Machine (SORTEX): Modern optical sensor technology that ejects black beans, sour beans, and beans with defects caused by insect damage.
3. Hand Sorting (Manual Pick): The final manual inspection by our expert team to remove fungus-damaged beans and ensure that defects are reduced to nearly 0%.
*The drying process uses indirect sunlight through a greenhouse effect to help preserve the coffee's flavor potential
